In the insomniac leaks it said Spider-man 2 cost double what Spider-man 1 cost. And at this point it’s not even certain that it will match the sales of the first one.
That’s not sustainable. SM2 was their biggest game ever when it came out and they still had to lay people off at insomniac.
They have to try something different going forward.
Hence the PC and Multiplayer push.

Exactly, literally every popular game making the most money right now has had massive layoffs in the past two years. epic/fortnite, EA/Apex, Activision/Blizzard/COD/WoW, Hoyoverse/Gachas, Riot/LoL, etc. and the numbers are far bigger than sonys.

Microsoft releases their games on pc and now they’re releasing on PlayStation and Switch, and own some of the biggest Live service games in teh world (call of duty, Minecraft, WoW, etc) and they have laid off a record number of people And shuttered 4 studios last year. You don’t even want me to link all the indie publishers struggling. It’s all tied to post pandemic course correction. Thats why most analysts predict 2025 as a major growth year.
