The game is regarded as one of the best of the last generation period. It's been universally solidified by the overwhelming majority of critics and gamers. Yes, the AI companion is sketchy at times, but the actual GAMEPLAY is not average or 'meh'. I'm talking about the melee combat, the shooting mechanics, the salvaging of materials to survive... the animations... all of that is excellent. The game isn't perfect, but it does so much well, that I have to raise a red flag and question someone who's trying to claim the gameplay wasn't on point.

Yeah. I found myself being annoyed by the gameplay.
plenty of third person shooters have done much better.
And he's not wrong in saying that this is a common criticism. The game was universally praised, but the one criticism in even the most positive reviews was that the gameplay wasn't as extraordinary as the rest of the game.
As much as i hated uncharteds gameplay, i thought naughty did an amazing job in that aspect for tlou. I had hoped it wouldve followed through in uc4, and thought it was better, tlou was still a better gameplay experience imo.
I like this guy @Killigraphy as he offers a sane approach talking to these nuts. I have played and beaten the game it is one of the best but the shyt overrated I mean it was basic. The story cinematic made the game impressive.
