Does anyone notice any artifacts when using this or is the quality completely clear the same as though you were playing the game without streaming at 1080p? This will be used to play 2d/2.5d ps4 and ps5 games that are not native 4k and other games that are built to be played portable that I bought and want to buy on the ps5.

Occasional artificating, moreso when playing away from home than when on home network. It fixes itself pretty quickly, so it's typically not game-breaking. I still would never recommend online competitive play on it, but for single player games, it's all good.

I still play this thing and 99% of the time I don't even realize I'm streaming.
The only change I want is if you shut it off, I want the PS5 to shut off as well. I was playing it and fell asleep one night and the battery died and my PS5 was left running all night.

There's two very simple settings that already alleviate your dilemma and have been there since both products respective day ones. You just need to set it up.

First off, on the portal, when you manually close the portal's connection, via the menu button, there's a selection that says to also turn off PS5 (or put it in rest mode, rather) upon closing the portal connection. As long as you have that selected, it will power down the PS5 when you close the portal. And also, you should assign a time length to your PS5's idle time before auto-shutdown to prevent it staying on the whole time in situations like yours when you fall asleep. You have to do that from the PS5's settings ->Power Savings selection. You can access this setting while on the portal as well or just when on the PS5 directly.

Now do better, fool!

I really wish sony would put a playstation streaming app on the apple tv the same way they have one on mac/ipad/ios.

when I travel, I typically take a dualsense and play on my mac.

What ever happened to them allowing us to cloud stream games we owned on disk. That would’ve been cool for this.
