Actually the founding fathers didn't in-vision that... I'll explain but lets get to hte point of culture.
The British don't have a violent gun culture because, get this, they don't have a lot of guns.
Also, the 2nd amendment is not about fighting against the military or police... you think that if the government decided to turn on the people that the people could fight against them, at ANY point in American history? NO

not even in 1789 could the people fight against the government in a war... that's absurd. Imagine your handgun defending you against a drone or Humvee
But the Second Amendment is not about that... lets actually look at it friend.

I have actually read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers ; those are the documents which explain the arguments for and against different parts of the constitution by the founders as they wrote it. It is their thought process... reading it will give you some insight into what they really meant.
