Brehs what do I do about this 'failed to detect location' error.

disable mock locations in developer options. Go to your "about phone", hit build number 7 times then open up developer options. Disable mock locations and it should be all good to go. I am in Australia and dealt with the same issue because I had a fake GPS app installed that enabled mock locations.
