- Their country and capital was partitioned by the allied parties
- Parts of Germany was annexed by Poland & Russia
- German industry was dismantled
- Financial reparations to the Jews
- Forced labor of POWs

Partly because of what happened after WW1.
Partly because Germany got split into two and neither side wanted to alienate their half.
That has literally nothing to do with it, if the West had been harsher on Germany then those scientists/engineers would have been even quicker to leave.
Operation Paperclip scientists were captured, often forcibly, and detained outside of Germany. How does that have anything to do with the treatment of Germany? The USA could have treated Germany like shyt and it wouldn't have stopped Operation Paperclip from happening, the first critical months of the operation where while America was still AT WAR with Germany.

It has way more to do with it than you think.
The same agenda Germany was pushing back then is now being pushed by the West now. Hitler's ideas are not far away from becoming reality for the world now.

You're not giving it time. I didn't say anything would happen today or tomorrow. These things take years to happen.
But the West is absolutely an extension of the same ideas that could be found in Germany in WW2 times.
Just give it time to play out in front of your eyes.
People seem to forget how pro-Nazi a lot of Americans were before Hitler's Germany started annexing. Wasn't just Henry Ford and Walt Disney either.

that's also a reason as to why the allies (USA) didn't fully liberalise / de-nazify germany and instead left many consevative infuences in place.
they re-wrote the schoolbooks, law, constitution etc but left enough prussian, hessian, saxon and bavarian closed mindedness in to ensure the country did not stray too far from western democratic and capitalist ideals.

I feel like people don't mention this enough. Germany was punished the hardest after WW1 and they were just defending an ally after their Arch Duke was assassinated.
Germans were angry because they were left holding the bag for a war they didn't start.
