All the previous Presidents looked for ways to improve the system. Because the courts and process is so backlogged that it takes mad years to become a US citizen. But Trump ain't trying to do that because his brand is xenophobia. And Republicans in Congress ain't trying to do anything because it would lessen their ability to demonize and fear monger the issues.

i dislike the narrative that obama was a great president for immigrants. he wasnt lol
while i disagreed with obama on his approach to immigration (i think deportation is cruel) and i hated the way he ratcheted up drone warfare, he did a great fukking job. our civil liberties did suffer a little with some of his GWB part 2 legislation, but he got america back on track, damn near the way clinton got america cooking again after bush. but nobody actually criticizes obama for his policies... that would be sensible. they criticize him for the color of his skin. but he also saw that, recognized it, and played the long game. and came out on top
