Why would he drop it now.

He's already embarrassed himself and 50 years of hiphop culture, so he might as well try to go for the money

Was going to add it to my original post here, but it's different enough to warrant a new post.

His lawsuit will not succeed.

He is suing his record label for its policies - all of which he has been a recipient of. The idea that there’s validity to his claims seems to come from: 1. Genuine ignorance of how the music industry has worked for the last 30 years, particularly the last 10 in the advent of streaming and, 2. A wide-eyed obsession with Drake, to the point of being unable to objectively see what is going on.

Any Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal user can just open up the app and see that every Drake single makes the automatic playlists generated for hip-hop, urban, R&B - as well as the next played for his collaborators.

He has not been maligned by his own record label.

This isn’t just corporate dishonesty, and make no mistake, Drake is a “corporation.” This is also just bad sportsmanship.

Drake, textually, is using his label for boosting a record at his detriment as an “employee” of said label.

its a very narrow argument. I dont know if he will be successful but let’s not twist this.

Meek didn’t sue, matter of fact he dissed him back and recovered after the beef. What Drake is doing is trying to make Hip Hop Beef not exist anymore, that is a big part of the genre which is battling.
“rap beef” doesn’t exist outside of saying “street fights” dont exist

It’s not really a “thing” if nothing other than a byproduct of the genre. These aren’t sanctioned nor do they have government oversight.

If theres no rules, then …

:jbhmm: Battling has existed since the beginning of Hip Hop, also from brake dancing and graffiti too. Some of those had beefs, It’s competition.

I think you’re confusing “tradition” with “expectation"

I do wish people would say “drake should be content with people putting that PDF on his jacket for the love of the game” and be cool with it. Drake really doesn’t seem to care about anything else that was said other than THAT.

Anything else is just coded “culture” talk and I just get confused personally. We all know what people want to say but somehow get tied up in wrapping this in “rules”

But he's cool with putting a domestic abuser jacket on another man and calling his fiancé a hoe. Come on now. That nikka can dish it but he can't take it.

:mjtf: That shyt existed since forever, some rappers were getting personal calling each other drug addicts, or say they had plastic surgery or calling them gay. This is nothing new.
