Sex & Violence is my 3rd fav BDP album. Edutainment seems to get more love but I never saw that. Kris was bullyfootin' everybody on S&V. Some of his hardest stuff ever.

Yeah, shyt was hard, was a crazy album, stylistically. Edutainment was probably more concepts and conscious.

It's also interesting to me how mic ratings and publications sometimes dictate the publics opinions on an album rather than the other way round. I'm glad I can objectively judge on what I hear rather than follow what I read. They get some shyt right no doubt, but some shyt far wrong too.

If you think about it / they are trying to judge albums that, in most cases, hadn't even been released to the public yet, over a very minimal time frame. It's a really tough job. It's amazing they get as much right as they did. Anyway - what are some examples of ratings that were far wrong?

That's a decent point. But I'm not sure, I don't feel like a lot of these people are Hip Hop heads like that. Ok I'll have a look at some examples...

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or whatever that bullshyt album was called. That shyt was trash lol, that weren't no Hip Hop classic, liked Power, Devil in A Dress, and... yeah not that much. Didn't feel Life Is Good deserved an XXL, DEFINETELY not Yeezus, nor Good Kid Mad City. I can't comment on Tha Naked Truth but I heard that didn't deserve 5 mics. If someone has a list of all the mic ratings, not the 5 mics by the way, but all, then can go through, they have some horrible horrible ratings, criminally underrated someone like Last Emperor's album. On the whole I don't really respect them dudes like that, neither does someone like KRS. I'd really like to see what they've given different artists mic wise over the years on all their albums, then could break it down much more.

A lot of heads are very critical of that shyt, very much so, because in some cases it's a bunch of white guys dictating public opinion in Hip Hop. I wouldn't mind if they were REAL Hip Hop dudes, but in many cases there just clearly not, they exploit instead of building.

[krs-one]
Check it out
True underground sound from the boogie down
Uptown downtown gather round for the showdown, in they faces
Calling out these racists, at rolling stone
Spin details and other places, krs is the source
fukk these magazine leadin hip-hop off course
You'll print about black mayors, black senators
Why you ain't got no black editors?
Everytime I do an interview in rolling stone
They sendin me a writer that look like he's home alone
Ignorant, to the culture and the microphone
This has got to stop -- your whole spot
Is blown sky high, battle why try?
My view is bird's eye, scopin with my third eye
You don't understand, why you're publically banned
Until you recognize the writing skills of a black man
Black editor, all of us ain't thuggin
Gossiping over who's homosexual
Some of us are black intellectuals, up in harlem world
You can't get with me, so now in midtown
You wanna stop and talk to me?
bytch ass journalist, is this your fake hip-hop publication?
Look I'm burnin this
