Damn…I’m not the most intuned nikka out here but I know exactly who Polo G is lol…
I can’t say it’s fully a regional thing because he ain’t getting all of these views on YouTube and plays on streaming app only in his own backyard but here in the Chicago area/surrounding parts Polo is HUGE…He got real fans out here, they’re just a lot younger.
My youngest brother is 15 and he loves that dude. The Z Generation listen and process music differently than the previous generations. Just because y’all don’t hear it doesn’t mean it ain’t being played.
It’s pretty much a 2 man race between Polo and Durk as the top rappers outta Chicago right now. I don’t count Kayne because he’s not that active anymore and already cemented himself.
Juice WRLD (rest in peace) was gonna be a mega superstar and was seriously about to go on a monster run…
Juice and Polo make completely different music though some of Polo’s material can be emo-ish but he talk about street life, consequences, etc. Juice mostly talked about drug addiction, love, heartbreaks and depression.
Durk and Polo is a better comparison except I think Durk is better at the Melodic shyt but Polo is a better pure rapper.
I’m not the biggest Polo G fan out here and I do think his shyt be redundant but I respect the fact that he don’t glorify ignorance and has a balance within his music….even being from Chicago he don’t be on that dissing the opps shyt like Durk be doing.
