Good win tonight and Lonnie finally attacked the rim instead of settling for his jump shot. We KILLED Denver in the paint
I know boys hate the offense and Pop but we are top 10 in paint points per game, second chance points and fast break points. Still near the bottom at 3 point attempts but top 16 scoring per game. We just have a really young athletic squa.
This is what is so frustrating about Lonnie Walker. When he plays like this, you can really see the potential. But often he will have a stretch of games where he plays poorly.
I agree with
@malbaker86 the Spurs desperately need a talented, athletic big man. I wouldn't want to see another plodding C/PF the way LaMarcus Aldridge was.
On the offensive side last night I thought McDermott was great. I am a little concerned that when Lonnie isn't feeling it, he looks to Vassell to take the important shots. I couldn't point to a lot of examples but I thought I saw a pass or two from Lonnie to Vassell that I felt Lonnie should have taken himself.
Derrick White is starting to look a lot better lately in terms of aggressiveness.
The Spurs shot 15-35 from Three last night. That's great, though they won't shoot 43% from there every night. So I'd hope they are willing to take those shots more consistently. The spacing is there to do it (well, potentially anyway). And they have the athleticism to make defenses pay if they get too aggressive around the arc.
They really do need a PF/C they can pick and roll teams to death with though. I wish Sabonis was a better perimeter shooter. He'd be interesting and he's available. Not saying he's ideal...
