So I just want to be clear about something.

As fun as it is to dream that the Spurs could tank and wind up with the #1 pick next summer and draft Wembanyama, that's not likely to happen.
Getting the #1 pick, even if you're a bad team is up to a certain degree of randomness or luck.

However, if the draft has taught us anything, it is that great players are found at all pick numbers. Number 1, number 8, number 25, and so on.
Dejounte Murray was the 29th overall pick in 2016. So let's frame things the right way here.

Like I shared in that article, the Spurs had 3 choices here and really none of them were ideal. I think this provides the best path forward.
Nobody has much faith in prospects until they show it. That said, I think the athleticism and skills that the players the Spurs DO HAVE is cause for optimism.

Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are championship contenders.
Let's try to embrace the process.
