And he shouldn't sign an extension because that makes him the least amount of money he can make.

It's concerning to me that part of the reason the spurs seem to have traded Dejounte was because they are afraid of paying him market value. Tim, Tony, and Manu days are long gone. Nobody is taking discounts like that in San Antonio anymore. So if the spurs are afraid of paying somebody a lot of money cause they not a max player then they need to go ahead and probably trade every body on this team they didn't draft this year. They definitely need to get rid of Poeltl cause aint no way he playing for 9 million dollars after this season.

It's also :mjlol: that we are saying the spurs are embracing the tank but they already know 2 years from now they going to be trash so it looks like they embraced the tank already :mjlol:

Going to make it all the more :mjlol: when we somehow win 35 games, lose in the play in, and end up with the number8 pick

He wanted to win now..

Lonnie and Luka not working basically put the nail in that coffin...

I suspect Dejounte was probably on the way out last year which is why pop let him have all the usage he could handle..

I’m browsing the Spurs subreddit and looking at the comments on Twitter and I’m really disappointed in what the fans are saying.

It wasn’t long ago that anything PATFO did was met with support and faith that they had a plan.

Now I’m seeing all this self-pity and anger that the Spurs somehow sabotaged their future.

It’s sad to see.

I don’t want to see a team tank. To me, tanking suggests you have a capable team but you purposely play poorly.

I think these young Spurs have a lot of potential and I want to see them work through the process and grow. And if that means a bad record that’s ok. To me that’s not tanking. But to see people with hopes of signing overrated bums like Colin Sexton or handing out the maximum to Ayton. Nah man. Nah. I’m good with all that.

Try to take a long term view of what could be.

Seeing Spurs fans eager to get mid-tier veterans to chase the 5th seed is something the Knicks do.

Yup i'm good on that as well. Spurs fans fall in love with our players way too much. At the end of the day its a business and trading DJ had to be done. We won by turning a late 1st round pick into an All Star that netted us 3 future 1sts....how often does that happen? I hope the FO doesn't use the cap space just because and stunt these young guys growth. Run with the young guys and see what happens and roll that space over to next year.

I just figured trying to put more pieces around your all star PG averaging 21/9/8 on a team that was a near playoff squad who played much better than the record indicated would be a better option instead of turning into the Kings/Wizards for the next 3-5 years :francis:

Lol

Brett Brown gets a lot of criticism because Philly wasn’t very good when he was there.

But there is an argument to be made that Brown laid down the ground work for them to build a competitive roster. I hope he can do a similar job with the Spurs.
Oh naw I was referring to the fan asking for ginobili to come back. I like the Brett Brown signing.

Timmy Tony Manu and Kawhi was a long time ago.

Hard to say they sabotaged their future when they hopped in the delorean to go backwards before even reaching their destination.

Take a long term view of what could be? What could be is a bunch of picks in the late 10's and 20's if the Hawks are a competent competitive playoff team.

To be honest, the spurs front office has been probably one of the 5 worst in the league since Kawhi left. They have salvaged themselves somewhat by getting a bunch of picks, but trading Kawhi for Derozan and Poeltl in the first place was just incredibly stupid. Imagine how much further along and better this team would be had we just taking SGA from the clippers and all their picks, or just held out until Lebron got impatient and got the lakers young players and all their picks.

Maybe it's just due to my profession but no matter how much you killed it for 20 something years, nobody will care about that when you don't kill it for 4 straight years.

Let me check to see if we are still paying Demare Carroll to NOT play basketball for the Spurs.

Now I see these hit pieces floating around on Dejounte talking about "he wouldn't sign an extension." Of course he wouldn't cause it pays him the least money he can make. Who in the fukk signs up to make the least amount of money they can at the exact same time they are playing the best basketball of their career." If the spurs even asked Dejounte about an extension I would expect him to tell his Rich Paul to get him the fukk out of here. That's just a bad faith conversation period. Spurs should know better.

Honestly if you just step back and you look at the players who have come and gone through San Antonio since Kawhi left it is pretty alarming. If anyone gave a shyt about the spurs and took a look at the contracts they gave out and the way players act when they get here and the way they treat players, they'd be the laughing stock of the league. Just shocking that out of LMA, Derozan, and Dejounte...Dejounte is the one who got flipped for assets...

Kawhi left here and won a ring.

Derrick got traded and almost won a ring.

I got about 5 grand to blow so let me go put it on the Hawks making it to the ECF :mjlol:

I don’t see it that way.
But I think we all share a desire to see the team do well.

Those of us who think the Spurs are making mistakes, I hope we are wrong.

And those of us who think the Spurs are doing the right things, even if they’re unpopular, I hope we are right.

Spurs front office were the man that came out of a 20 year marriage and entered into the dating market.

The uncle Dennis and dealing with nba iso stars with egos were completely new to them...

I think they have a better grasp on the new NBA and the draft picks are players who are athletic and know basketball..

There will be more off ball movement and a faster pace which will open up more 3s and EASIER 3s..

I'm excited to see the kids play
