Well it is what it is
But do you think that could be a double edged sword? Black youth getting treated like adults while other kids dont, black women being neglected by doctors, black men getting profiled and brutalized by law enforcement because we appear to others as threatening, mature or stronger than other races.

All stereotypes are rooted in negativity, even when they seem complimentary on the surface.
Even asisans hate being told they must be good at math and that's not bad at all. It comes from how strict Asian schools are compared to schools in the states. So they made fun of their country not allowing them to be children basically. There's always some type of hate

Interesting point on this one. In undergrad, I talked to a lot of Chinese, Korean, and Indian students and they mostly said the strict school thing is bullsht. From their own admission(especially the Koreans and chinese) , they say that the best-of-the-best of their population self selects to come to the US through guile, wealth, or connections.

The Korean sitting beside me in calculus actually showed me an Instagram group full of that 1% of Asians that moved abroad to States, UK, and Australia.

So probably, if you picked some random in Beijing, he probably couldnt solve the Quadratic-Equation any better than some white kid in Iowa or a breh in Baton Rouge.:yeshrug:

Above the fray.
Stereotypes aren't good because people are individuals.
Some people don't feel comfortable being judged for their actions, views, and accomplishments so to them, there might be an incentive to embrace a "positive" stereotype about their group. It's bullshyt.

You may be right but this stereotype is from like the 60s and 70s but still being used. Just like the watermelon thing. Outdated sayings that probably arent true to begin with

I remember when I was in college, I was taking this EASY ass math class since I didn’t need advanced math for my major. Me and this black girl were the only black students in the class. The rest were white and Asian. I was the only one in the class that knew my shyt, and it’s not even really bragging because when I say this class was easy, it was EASY. We’d do stuff like finding the median, mode, and average of a set of numbers. It was that level of math. I didn’t think I belonged, but I was receiving full college credit :yeshrug:
