But France is a bastion of democracy.

Human rights clearly have a different meaning in France and Turkey. Plenty of news evidence to show you that Erdogan doesn't actually believe in human rights and this suspension is only to appease his western buddies. They made threats and he responded by accelerating the arrests. France is a beacon of human rights just ask the millions of Vietnamese and Algerians they killed. The Rwandan genocide they engineered.
