A boring dem might not motivate as many dems to turn out, but by the same token, republicans wouldn't be as fired up to vote against them.

I get what you mean, but here is the flip side: any non-boring, high-profile person is going to lose people because of their haters not turning out.

Think about how much Hillary's supporters had a distaste for Obama in 2008 (yeah, he won comfortably, but if there was no financial meltdown, the election would have been a nail-biter)

Think about how much the Bernie people disliked Hillary in 2016


Most of the higher profile candidates who inspire passion/motivation for one reason for another will also have lots of haters who can't stand them


So I guess it comes down to figuring out where more voters are lost: by being boring and not motivating people to come out, or having lots of voters who won't come out because they can't stand you for whatever reason

He's the only politician that I believe can unite the most factions: moderates, progressives, African-Americans, rural voters, middle class, young, white working class voters etc. all respect him.

I know men who didnt want to vote for her because she was a woman ( don't know if they actually end up voting for her anyway) and my Hispanic friends and coworkers say their husbands, brothers etc would never vote for a woman. They don't believe women should lead (again, don't know what they actually did once they got in the booth) They country is misogynistic as hell, I'm sure you know this.

Nah, you right, I should have phrased my post better. Misogyny definitely had a role to play, because America is still a misogynistic society. What I meant to say is that a woman can still win despite the misogynistic factors. Clinton made a lot of poor decisions and had a lot of baggage that was unrelated to her being a woman that helped sink her. Also, the same demographic that most vociferously hate Clinton venerate Sarah Palin, and would they'd go nuts for some fascistic, autocratic Mommy figure a la Marine Le Pen. I'm confident Warren would have beaten Trump in 2016, and I'm confident either she or Kamala can beat him in 2020.
