I dont think the new generation is the problem, you're probably just feeling nostalgic about those older songs, tracks take a while to get that "legendary" status. You might look back on some of the newer songs and think they're great too.

problem is, alot of these songs are "classic" in the moment.

But 3-4 years later they don't hold up.
Power released in 2010 and is still being put in commercials.

it doesn't have the same effect due to the ghost-writing revelation.
According to who? Do y'all seriously think people in the real world aren't vibing out to music because someone other than the artist may be involved in the creative process

Only on here does ghostwriting affects someone listening experience.

And who ghostwrote SFTB?

So I guess "Give to me" by Jay doesn't have the same effect since we've learned he took the song from Omillio sparks

Man shutup. When you rap/sing a song that's supposed to be about ur life, and it turns out to be fake/or someone elses life, it LOSES credibility. Stop acting like that's just on a message board.

It is just a message board

R&B is way more personal than rap and no one cares that the song was penned by someone else

If what you was saying is correct artist that write their own shyt would get propelled to the top of the food chain just by that fact but it doesn't happen cause no one cares how the sausage is made

Are "Rappers Delight" and "Boyz in the hood" not classic momentual Hiphop records because they were written by someone else?

Does anyone think that Common didn't deserve and Oscar for "Glory" because he didn't write the song?

Just because you think Rap is somehow different from any other genre in the music business and Don't like Drake anymore cause QM wrote a handful of verse don't project that on everyone else that has shown throughout history to not care and never will

dude, this has been covered so many times.

Rap is born out of the streets. A genre created b/c we had no instruments or music programs in many of our urban schools. No way to express ourselves and our stories. It's a way to tell YOUR story, about YOUR life.

If you don't write your own raps, TRADITIONALLY speaking, you have no credibility. End of story.

Not to say SOME of your songs can't still be enjoyed. But you can't tell us you "started from the bottom", when someone else is the one writing it.

Go back to "Hotline Bling".....nobody cares if really you wrote that or not.

Once again who wrote SFTB?

And nice of you to ignore my entire post to only focus on something you can post an argument about?

Does Easy E not have credibility?

Does Rappers delight not have credibility?

What about Twista or Tupac?

And your #GMB thread in the TRL got absolutely bodied btw
