Naw that shyt is dope on the right song, especially when the rapper got a higher pitch than most (e-40, pimp c, etc.) and/or the beat is high pitch normally.

90% of trap artists aren't shyt without their producers.

In fact, producers have been far more influential in terms of shifting the culture than MCs.

Q-Tip, in my mind, is the biggest "genius" in hip hop history as far as possessing the most wide range musical talent. He has the only legitimate argument of being both a top 10 MC and top 10 producer. Outkast as Earthtone III, while great behind the boards, are not top 10 producers simply because they had Organized Noize.

Guys like Big KRIT, J Cole, and Tyler are undervalued because they typically maintain total control over their work and have far less hands in their music than regular rappers.

Logic is one of the best MCs of this generation, but most of his music is derivative and unoriginal. He's a good songwriter.

Big L = Overrated. He gets top tier praise because he passed away early. He was a good MC, but that's it.

E. 1999 Eternal is one of the most unique hip hop albums of all time because of Eazy-E's gfunk influence on Bone Thugs' Midwest style. It's a top album of all time. Has a claim for being the best G-Funk album.

Adding to that, Bone Thugs' and other Midwest choppers like Tech N9NE and Twista are consistently underrated as far as MC'ing goes. Their lyricism gets buried under their technical ability.

I still have not sat down and listened to the following albums all the way through from top to bottom, Ive heard all the good songs here and there over the years but never had the patience to sit and listen to the albums to feel their ambiance:

RTD, Illmatic, Killuminati 7 day theory

Its a huge crime when you consider I have listened to the entirity of D12 world several times, puff daddys trash 2nd album I bought and played the whole way several times, i've done LAD several times so why not RTD it might be better, i've done almost all friggin posthumous 2pac albums but not Killuminati, it makes no sense. I should neg me, ive done stillmatic but not illmatic, this is just ridiculous right here. I need to correct this ASAP.

With something like the 7th Day theory in particular, it may not be time for you to hear it yet. If it comes to you to jam one of those albums, do so. Don't feel obligated because you're going to listen to them from the wrong perspective, I've been through this with albums that were before my time.

i don't really enjoy listening to jay-z's catalog anymore outside of the key standout tracks. i could probably condense his discography down to a 28 track double album, and that includes songs from soundtracks, collaborations, and features
