Wilt Chamberlain
I don't have insider info, so this is what I would do if I was running these teams, not what I think will actually happen. Jeff Goodman and others are better for that type of info
1. Wolves - Karl Towns
2. Lakers - Jahlil Okafor
I honestly think it's a toss up and you cant go either way but I like Towns a bit more just as a fan. Still, i watched some of those Duke tourney games and the attention Okafor commends in the Half court is such a huge asset in itself that he doesnt even have to score.
3. Sixers - Justise Winslow... I really like Justise and i even had him at number 2 on my big board but that was before the slightly underwhelming measurement. Still I'd take him over Russell but barelly. He'll probably slide to the Magic or even more and whoever takes him is gonna have a big time talent.
4. Knicks - D'Angelo Russell.. Will be interesting to see him play the triangle but he has to get picked here.
5. Magic - Stanley Johnson .. I'm a big Stanley Stan since he was tearing up Cali HS BBall. If he can get his outside shot going consistently he is a handful
6. Kings - Emmanuel Mudiay ... Doubt he slides this far but if he does, even with Collison and McLemore the Kings gotta take him.
7. Nuggets - Kristaps Porzingis... Nurk and Kris, the Nuggets Euro Cac future.
8. Pistons - Devin Booker ... Really like him and he'll be a great fit for SVG.
9. Hornets - Willie Cauley-Stein.. I'm not sold on him because I don't like players that have no offensive skills, unless they are as huge and dominant inside like DJ. Trill doesn't have that yet but imagine him and MGK on D together
(Now imagine them on offense
But still)
10. Heat - Mario Hezonja... I'd probably ask Dragic how he feels about this first but Im not sold on Hezonja as much as others. Abrines and Satoransky are easily out playing him on his own team. They are fringe NBA players if they were to come over. I want everyone to succeed, he is only 20, playing for one of the 5 best clubs in Europe but I can't take him over Booker and Johnson, who are both more than a year younger.
11. Pacers - Frank Kaminsky... They wanna go more up tempo so he'll make a great stretch 5 for them.
12. Jazz - Sam Dekker.. I wasn't sure where to go with this pick but in my latest rewatch of NCAA tourney games, Dekker really impressed me. I think he can totally be a Gordon Hayward/Chandler Parsons type player. The Jazz already have Hayward but hey if it worked for you once, why not try it again. Also this pick might be packaged with Trey Burke in exchange for Jrue Holiday. Dekker would fit nicely on the Pelicans.
13. Suns - Rondae Hollis-Jefferson ... Really liked this guy watching Wisconsin-Arizona this morning, he can't shoot but finds ways to score, is an underrated passer. Already almost an all NBA level defender. Measured out well in the combine too. Always worried about guys who can't shoot but if you can play, you can play.
14. Thunder - Kelly Oubre.. Great fit as a spot up shooter next to Russ and KD
15. Hawks - Kevon Looney.. A big man with perimeter skills, and will hopefully replace Antic in the Hawks rotation.
16. Celtics - Justin Anderson... Celtics need 3 point shooting and we know Ainge loves guys that can defend the perimeter.
17. Bucks - Myles Turner... I'm not a huge fan because he runs the court as if he has 2 bad knees and moves like he is 35 years old. But he's huge and is very skilled. If he develops he could be a good replacement for Henson in the Bucks starting line up.
18. Rockets - Cameron Payne... We know they need a young PG with offensive skills. Morey has a history drafting out of Murray St too.
19. Wizards - Bobby Portis ... It's a bit off a drop of so the Wizards should go with the BPA.
20. Raptors - Delon Wright... Raptors have pretty good depth at every position but they just need more talent. Wright is someone who can come in and help right away
21. Mavs - Montrezl Harrell.. They like undersized energy guys who can run the court. Will be a solid back up for them.
22. Bulls - Tyus Jones.. Solid back up for Rose.
23. Blazers - Trey Lyles... Great talent, this is a high risk/High reward pick. Has the potential to replace LMA one day or never get out the D League
24. Cavs - Jerian Grant.. Nice fit next to Bron because he can shoot and with Delladova coming off a solid playoff and an FA, they need a back up plan if Kyrie gets injured.
25. Grizzlies - Terry Rozier... They have Russ Smith too, the Grizz have some interesting youngsters on the bench. Jordan Adams and Stokes are low-key nice and Jamychal Green can play
26. Spurs - Cliff Alexander.. High risk/High Reward. I'd also consider Vezenkov but if someone takes him in the 2nd round, you prob wouldn't need much to acquire his rights
27. Lakers - Christian Wood.. High risk/High Reward. Would be a nice stretch 4 + shot blocker next to Okafor if he develops.
28. Celtics - Rashad Vaughn.. Another potential driven pick, let him and James Young continue to develop in the D League.
29. Nets - RJ Hunter... Not too big on him but he has some intriguing skills.
30. Warriors - Chris McCollough.. fits in nice for their switch everything D, is somewhat reminiscent of their succesful James McAdoo pick last year.
