i think so much of it has to do with the fact that wrestling is more of an interactive experience. the creators of a tv show don't have quite the same relationship with their audience as the wwe does. in wrestling the audience plays a bigger part and has influence over the outcome.
but smart marks forget sometimes that this is a theatrical show meant to entertain, not a vehicle for their favorite behind the scenes worker to earn a higher position on the card. there's no need to cry burial every time your favorite wrestler loses a match.
That may be true but you still have fans that complain about TV shows, movies, or even a sports teams. It's just human nature to have rooting investment in our interest. For example, Just one day last week I overheard people at work talking about what they hope happens on the game of thrones next season, that's not much different than a wrestling fan analyzing their favorite wrestlers position on the card. Do some fans get to-into-it, sure. But at the end of the day super-smark or not were all still fans.
