we're the nikkas that was 25 when sohh was poppin. So you can't see the problem with residential segregation (white flight, gentrification), and how that segregation is reflected in the funding of schools? This creates an inequity right there in access, because the schools with better funding, better classes, and prepare more students for college. Thus giving them access to social and economic mobility.Yeah I guess I'm right there with you if that's what the #newblack is.
Number 2 is a crock of bullshyt that clowns believe. Its 2014 dudes can succeed but like the comfort of clinging to excuses for dear life. Maybe if cats get of the net wasting time bytching with the same drivel maybe they can succeed. Also most people that spit ask them what they do and that right there tells you why they can't make it not no fukking garbage you and others kicking. Don't people try to find a way to do other things they want or we just going to act like that don't happen?![]()
Regarding bold its just hard being Ive saw people come from shyt situations to make it so that family stuff means little to me. After a certain point I look at it as an excuse even though having a good family gives you a better start I won't deny that. Now to use it and say if you born into a janky situation you're stuck there I will never co sign that but if you choose to do so ok. Its like people when convenient have low self esteem or defeatist attitudes under the guise of that's how it is.Well your right I'm fortunate enough to have family (also their friends) where I see the opposite of this everyday and have optimism where others see negativity. So you can't see the problem with residential segregation (white flight, gentrification), and how that segregation is reflected in the funding of schools? It is a fact that people discriminate on name alone also. In a situation with duplicate resumes, Dylan will statistically get the job before Demetrius.
And lets talk about this whole pulling yourself up by the bootstraps. This country was founded by land thieves, built with forced labor, profited heavily off of injustices against others. Look at Duke University, founded by the same people who monopolized cigarettes. Dole Fruit Company colonized parts of Central America during the early 1900's. Peace to Patrice Lumumba. Peace to Guatemala, Lebanon, Iran, and all the other places that were exploited solely to benefit the white man, and allow him to pass down the privileges that were stolen to his future generations.
They love to throw people like Thomas Edison in our faces with that "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" talk that you love. You should read Upton Sinclair's The Jungle and see that this phenomena is rare in a system geared against you.
I strongly urge you to empathize, and show mercy to those who did not have the same opportunities as you. We do not pick what family we are born into.
Right, I dont cosign it either, that's why those of us who are born into those situations have to strive harder to get the same benefits as our white counterparts. It's hard, and to be honest, what is to be said of the person who would do better if presented with better options in life?Regarding bold its just hard being Ive saw people come from shyt situations to make it so that family stuff means little to me. Nothing because sometimes once you make it you get lazy. It happens all the time and sometimes the opposite also happens. Its just a matter of how somebody chooses to let life situations affect them. Its a saying about life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react that I think fits this discussion esp on this site where people blaming all types of stuff for why they can't make it even though this is a period of the most first generation millionaires ever if I remember correctlyRight, I dont cosign it either, that's why those of us who are born into those situations have to strive harder to get the same benefits as our white counterparts.
