Why do you need to do an Origins story for Batman?
Rich kid sees his parents gets killed, crime fighter by night, rich playboy during the day. Regardless of whether they do a young or old Batman, we know his origin story.
If MOS2 has Jon Hamm show up as Bruce Wayne doing a press conference with Lex Luthor, the audience isn't gonna go"I wonder who this Bruce guy is" A good script will tell us what type of Bruce Wayne/Bats this DC universe will have. A standalone movie with 30 minutes explaining how young Bruce Wayne decided to dress up like a bat isn't needed.
They don't need to follow the Marvel model. MOS is considered the first in the DC Universe. Have Bats vs Supes in the sequel, have them team up to defeat the enemy, maybe a cameo or 2 from Diana Prince and the Flash and they're good.
It's not just Batman, its not about one character. They're trying to do a Justice League movie. Because of how TDKR ended they will have to reintroduce Batman all over again. A simple origins story would've made since but At the end of the day it wouldn't have taken 1/2 or even 1/4 of the movie to do so. What they needed to do was make a separate Batman flick that would re-establish the new actor and character development and tie it in with the Justice League. The origins they did for MOS was weak. I mean after Krypton was destroyed it was a bunch of flash backs every now and then. They could've taken the same half ass approach with Batman. Maybe "origins" isn't what is needed but every character that is going to be in the justice league should have its own movie unless they view Batman the same way the view Black Widow and Hawkeye

Maybe they decided to do it this way so they wouldn't appear to be blatantly copying off of Marvel
