Just thought I'd share this since a lot of us are spending more time hunched over our computers or bad posture on our couches right now. A couple years ago I had the worst headaches of my life, they woke me up in the middle of the night, 1200mg Advil wouldn't do anything, Tylenol nothing, Aleve nothing. My eyes were watering and above my eye was throbbing. 9/10 debilitating pain, I almost called 911 in the middle of the night several times. The headaches would come almost every day for 2 months and I eventually figured they were tension headaches from poor posture.
Went to a physical therapist certified in Active Release Therapy. He gripped different parts of my trap, including down to the middle traps between my shoulder blades, while stretching my neck forwards, sideways, etc. and holding. Immediately after he was done my neck range of motion was so much better (we tried before and after). Only went to 2 sessions. Haven't had a single migraine in the 2 years since, best money I ever spent.
Now I make sure to stretch my neck sideways and hold 30 seconds, then forwards diagonally with my tin chucked in and my hands under the back of my skull pulling up like im trying to pull my head off. And I'm more conscious about maintaining good posture.
Here's the headache pattern I had
and the stretches. mostly "Side Bend" and "Flexion" from me. For Flexion i also point my head different angles while tucking my chin and pulling up on the back of my skull w/ both hands.
stretch your SCM too
