The poverty rate grew in 30% of counties between 2016 and 2018, according to a Stateline analysis of U.S. Census Bureau county estimates released this month. The poverty rate is the percentage of people in households earning less than the poverty threshold, currently $25,750 for a family of four.

While the overall poverty rate dropped between 2016 and 2018, from 13% to 12%, states varied widely. In New Jersey and Rhode Island, the poverty rate grew in only one county, compared with 83 in Texas.

a so called 1% decrease has you crowing. although to be fair to your guy trump, 2016 wasn't his year and 2018 is really the first year after he enacted things like tax cut, etc and made change.

so really it's 0.5% with the awesome tax cut and it looks like we've been trending this way before him, so that doesn't say much for right wing policy putting us on a more prosperous path of faster growth blah blah. looks like we increased the national debt so that rich people could get tax breaks and GDP still grow at what is suppose to be a horrible 2%.

In most places in the US where there's been job growth, rent increases have far outpaced wage increases.

So yes, you're more likely to be employed and probably earning more money - but an even higher share of your income goes to rent than before.
