this movie is about life as a conscious Black man in America, but the protagonist is an oppressed, powder white male.

the conscious Black male, just like our ancestors when they arrived to this land, wanted nothing more than to return home.

when Powder finally saw how these cacs operated, he was disillusioned and saw the world with extreme clarity, he knew he was viewed by his peers as an outsider, he knew people feared him which is why they attacked him.

I remember this rumor, and it's not as far fetched as it once seemed to me anymore.

Yeah at the very least, the last time he had anything that got any significant sort of attention was, what, 10 years ago with Jeepers Creepers 2? When word got out that a Disney-backed movie (talking about Powder) was directed by a convicted child molester, it kinda meant the end for him. For some reason, Francis Ford Coppola really vouched for him. He gave him money when he needed it, supported him as a choice to direct Jeepers Creepers when the studio got nervous about it and produced it.

Damn, I was about to rewatch this but the molestation stuff (which is news to me) makes me not want to.
