His father and Uncle Tommy are murdering drug kingpins. His mom helped frame Kanan to put him in jail just so she could be the queen alongside Ghost on top of everything else she’s done. Even grandma is just as complicit as she knew all three were involved yet kept quiet as the money and lifestyle was flowing in. On top of that, the one person he looked up to the most (Shawn) was fawning over and ended up fukking his mom.

People are letting the fact that he grew up rich and upbringing shield the fact that his family life is fukked up. Everybody in his life who he looked up was living a lie and money the lifestyle he lived doesn’t change that.

In real life if a parent killed that many people and was a criminal, the kids would be embarrassed, mortified and disgusted that was their father. Tariq is a shytty character but to put myself in his shoes, it has to be world shattering to grow up on the Upper East Side thinking you’re from a rich and successful family like the other kids only to find out your dad is a major drug dealer, has killed multiple people and is planning on leaving your mom and the family. That’s your whole world flipping upside down. We can say Tariq is a poorly written character while also acknowledging Ghost is a fukked up person. It’s no different then when the Madoff kids found out their dad embezzled and stole billions of dollars. One son committed suicide. The other son caught cancer and died and it was likely exacerbated by the situation. I mean imagine if your dad was discovered to be a rapist or was found to be a pedophile? Everything you thought you knew about your father was wrong. shyt would irrevocably destroy your relationship. And it would fukk your head up.

Stop trying to rationalize this dumb shyt man. So Tariq was so hurt by finding out that his pops was a murderous drug dealer.........that he’s going to force himself in that life unnecessarily? You’ve got to remember that power is mainly written by females. Every major character on the show was a fukked up person but ghost was clearly the only redeemable character. He’s the only one who moved in a way that made some kind of sense. Tommy’s character is an irredeemable piece of shyt who’s moving in a way that doesn’t make sense. Same thing with Tariq and Tasha.

Ghost was the only character who’s goal was to actually get out the game and pivot to a legit life. The rest of the characters were doing dumb shyt just to do it. Despite him being a shytty father he still showed that he had real love for tariq and was even willing to sacrifice going to prison for him.

Watched Dre episode. I really like the character perspective approach for a final season because it allow for a satisfying closure to story, provides some dimension to characters because I always wondered what's up with Dre's family, and it explains the reasons for the erratic time jumps between scenes in the non-character perspective episodes
