A lot of y’all gotta grow up about this topic. As sexually active as y’all claim to be, you have been with someone with herpes or already have it. Unless you specifically ask for the test, you haven’t been tested. There are several blood tests available and most of them aren’t even accurate. The most accurate test is a culture, which means you have to have a sore/blister that can be swabbed to detect the virus? What makes this virus even trickier? The VAST majority of people with the virus are asymptomatic, or they had one MILD outbreak that they mistook for a pimple. These stories you hear about “crunch bar dikk” are very uncommon symptoms. Herpes is one of the few stds you can get even using a condom. You can transmit the virus even if you aren’t having an active outbreak, which is adds to the number of people who have it. So many people think they don’t have it because they never had bumps. Once again for the people in the back—only a small minority of people have bumps, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pass it to someone else.

There are two strains but it’s possible to get either strain on ANY part of your body. You share a drink with someone with the virus, then go down on someone the next month? Boom. Genital herpes, could be either type. There’s no functional difference between the two strains. You can get the “oral form” on your genitals and the genital form on your mouth.

These are all the reasons herpes shouldn’t be stigmatized at the level that it is. Protect yourself as much as possible, but y’all gotta stop running around acting like it could never be you—if you’ve never 1) taken an HSV IGG blood test (and even that’s not reliable unless you got tested when the antibodies are detectable), or 2) had a swab done and tested negative, then the reality is you don’t know what you have.

And yes, I’m prepared to be accused of having herpes for bothering to actually educate myself of the consequences of being sexually active.
This is true.

I agree it is very common. People need to just assume everyone has it and take the necessary precautions.

People think they can look at a person and tell if they are "clean" or not...total BS.

And all the people claiming they have been tested, some people test negative even when they are positive.
I heard that as well.

So the best test is the swab test then?

The stigma is much worse than the actual disease.

Three of my friends have the oral version and they said they got it as kids.

That's crazy.

Never letting anyone kiss my kids.

I guarantee my std tests are cleaner than yours. You can see them on page 2. Where yours at?

Every time you have sex with a new partner you’re exposing yourself to herpes. Hopefully y’all get tested after this if you haven’t already. All tests arent created equally, do your research so you get the most accurate test. If you see a random bump or scratch, don’t blow it off—that’s what most people do and that’s one of the reasons it’s so wide spread. Actually educate yourself on any disease you could be exposed to and protect yourself.

The big deal about herpes is ALL stigma. It wasn’t even a big deal until a pharma company wanted to make money, so they marketed herpes as an awful virus and now drug sales are through the roof—it worked. HPV, HIV, sylhillis can kill you. chlamydia, gonorrhea can fukk with your reproductive system. Herpes may itch or be uncomfortable from time to time. In the grand scheme of things, it’s the most minor STD as far as impacting your daily life.

I definitely don’t want the virus, but I think for myself and y’all should too. Think about these facts and then think about what reason you really have to stigmatize it to the level you do.
So herpes doesn't blind and kill infants? You're a "medical professional" stop with the misinformation and attempts to destigmatize this nasty shyt

Yes, the most accurate is have a swab of the actual lesion tested.

The blood tests are not that reliable and that's part of the reason why they don't test for herpes unless you ask.

From my understanding when a woman gives birth and has genital herpes, it's safer is she has a c-section, but it's not always required.

It can....only if the woman becomes infected while pregnant.

If she has it beforehand....then the antibodies pass on to the child.

But If the woman has an outbreak close the the due date, a c section is recommended.

Or a herpes infested individual can kiss a newborn and end up killing them.
