It's honestly who they need to play. Though Swoopes didn't play that bad. But Heard is their future. I really hate Watson's offense. His style will not attract Texas elite talent. They will go to Baylor and A&M and Charlie needs to make a change after this season. If he stays with Watson and this offense scheme shows no improvement, Charlie will be gone by year three. Keep Watson as qb coach. But go get a better OC.
That said, shaggybevo isn't as bad as orangebloods. Orangebloods makes me want to kill somebody right now. I really need to cancel my 9.95. In reality though, there is no elite draft able talent on offense. None. Texas has not had a good oline since 2006. Mack absolutely fukked this program up.

Not to mention they knew the oline would be average and they knew the receivers would be average. Now they lost three starters on the oline and this projected average oline is now probably the worst since in decades.

Basically you have some clowns now thinking he won't be able to turn it around. NONE of them said anything like this seven days ago. In fact, none of them posted on the damn board seven days ago. Now when he gets his first loss( a loss that most even predicted) they start to change their tune. It's a bunch of knee jerk reaction people over there. Some people though are seeing the stupidity on that board though so that at least gives me hope for orangebloods.

bomani took the words out of my mouth when i was watching the game. mack brown has been weak recruiting since 2010. i feel bad cuz all the blame will be on coach strong and his staff when none of these players are guys they recruited.

i'm not a big swoops fan, never was impressed with him...the o line is just...
my understanding is, heard isn't the future either. i know he's only been on campus for four or five months, but he didn't show enough to beat out swoopes in a run happy offensive scheme.
it's clear strong and company wouldn't have recruited most of the kids on this team. (evident in dismissals, suspensions, and play calling on offense the last two weeks)

Too early to say that Heard isn't the future. What I do realize is that Swoopes is a band aid. They counted on Ash to play the entire year. That was a mistake. Heard was going to be the qb next year. He may still even play qb this year. He is a better running threat than Swoopes at this point in their careers. Passing is about the same. In fact, if they instituted a spread offense, heard would be more than ready to play.
And yeah Bomani is saying what most same Texas fans are saying. Mack Brown and his lazy azz recruiting destroyed this program. The fact that Case Mccoy was qb at Texas tells you how lazy he had become. Mack never took advantage of the 05 championship.
strong recruited a lanky pro-style white kid out of arizona. for a kid he likes, i can guarantee you, they open up the offense next year when he hits campus. they don't trust the abilities of these option qbs mack brought in.

texas has zach gentry coming in next year who will compete with heard at qb. with this system that watson is running, i think gentry will get the nod over heard unfortunately. heard is spread qb who would flourish at a school like texas tech and a&m...i think his struggles are grasping watson's scheme which is more of a pro style. sometimes you just need to let your athletes get back there and do they thang.

Yeah and that's the problem. I have my doubts Watson's offense will work in this conference. That's why I don't believe Heard isn't ready to be qb period for the team. He's just not ready to play in this offense. If they were running a spread, I bet Heard is out there. And most of the players on Texas are spread players. And most Texas high school kids play is the spread.
