I'm half through Boys now and I read the first couple of arcs of Scalped.

One Of The Last Real Ones To Do It
People who don't appreciate how Deep Preacher is probably don't realize how subversive it is. Preacher deconstructs a lot of Christianity's myths about it's own exceptionalism with a giant middle finger to the idea of God as a savior as presented in the New Testament.
All the fukked up things you see in it sort of desentializes you (a lot like the actual bible) enough that the final solution of the series feels satisfying instead of simply shocking. The only series I think is clearly better is Sandman. How AMC makes this whole series is crazy to me.
How it does that is by changing the story of Jesus Christ to a story about a man dying for the sins of Man into a story about Jesse Custer a man dying for the sins of God. Jesse Custer = JC = Jesus Christ. Also the whole story is about a man who gains the powers of God and how other men want to kill him because of it = New Testiment

Preacher is brilliant, but gets weighed down by it's penchant for random and unneeded fukkery.

Scalped gets nowhere near the respect it deserves.
shyt is a masterpiece, and fear of backlash be damned, it shoulda been put on AMC panel for panel like 5 years ago.
Thats because its release was too sporadic and the ending wasnt the strongest either.
Its too bad the tv series got scrapped, I was really looking forward to it.

I just wanted to add to the fukkery, I personally thought V for Vendetta was the better read and iller graphic novel then watchmen. I also think Preacher and The Boys comics are overrated
