Clearly this idea that prisoners deal with child molesters is clearly overblown. That fact that this monster even gets a chance at being in decent society is disgusting.

I did a few years in prison. Nobody does anything to chomos except extort them for their commissary. Protective custody doesn't exist except in TV and movies. There's just gen pop and segregation which is a shythole and you're locked in all day with nothing.

Dudes get out of prison and talk tough like they beat up chomos but really they didn't do shyt. And since no one on the outside can verify what happened in there they tell tall tales when they get out.

Basically everybody scared to get new assault charges and are scared to mess up their good time, privileges and chances at getting parole.

If you get into any fight, especially if you're the aggressor, you go to the hole (seg), you lose all your privileges and your job. If you had a single cell (which you earn after years of good behavior), you lose that and go all the way to the back of the waiting list. You lose any contraband you had in your posessions and will get writeups for the contraband. (Most inmates have some contraband, it's not always dangerous stuff but just coll stuff you've collected that you're not supposed to have). You lose some good time, and you're pretty much guaranteed to get denied at your next parole hearing for having a violent writeup (if you can't obey the rules on the inside, they'll say you can't be trusted to obey the rules on the outside). And you could get a new assault charge if you beat their ass badly enough and the chomo wants to press charges.

It does happen very rarely, but it's usually those crazy ass crashout dudes with nothing to lose.
