Democrats are criticizing Trump for not acting fast enough, which essentially would have involved blocking all travel and starting the national social distancing earlier.

They were NOT calling on him to block travel, and blocking travel would have been irrelevant because you aren't ever going to block literally hundreds of thousands of Americans from returning home. Trump didn't even block 40,000 Chinese tourists from entering the USA from other countries because he didn't want to upset China, his "travel ban" was a PURE propaganda move and nothing more. A nation the size of America that has that many of its own people abroad and isn't a fukking dictatorship was never doing to stop this with travel bans.
