re: preemo's sound. if you scour youtube, you'll catch him saying he was still working with the mpc62 when the mpc ren dropped. a couple videos later he was learning the ren. so i don't have proof but i do have reason to believe he updated his equipment which would explain this new wide open sound from him...

Good point....he went with the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" mentality for so long. Nothing wrong with upgrading hardware/software/etc....at his age he is a creature of habit and learning new equipment again might have made it worse.

Of topic, but it reminds me of Megahertz (dude who did some tracks for Busta, did Got Yourself A Gun for Nas, etc).....he stated he never learned to read music, play keys/drums/instruements and did everything by ear. He tried to teach himself and it ended up costing him his career.

Honestly I'm not feeling either track. I haven't heard a good rap project from Younge. His music is so stale to me, at least as it pertains to hip hop. I don't hear soul, it's moreso studio artists trying to catch a ghost. And when it's sampled it just doesn't sound funky or soulful.

Speaking if funk, what happened to funky Premo? The best is just...there. Dunno brehs. Track list looks dope but I'm going into this with some big doubts.
