One of the most overrated players ever. Take out T-Macs 02-03 season and nobody would talk about him ever. Never won anything. Never got out of the first round. Not clutch. Couldn’t stay healthy. Shouldn’t be in the hall of fame.

I dont think McGrady was more skilled or more athletic than Kobe at all.

I think I agree with Kobe's perception that they were more or less equals.

Mac came into league moreso as a defensive specialist and built his offense along the way. He was fundamentally sound/skilled from the jump. Breh was making deep fade away 3's look easy. Mac had an edge in skill and athleticism to me, but Kobe had more dedication, determination and will to be great though combined with his own skill and athleticism, that's what separated them.

T-Mac was a better shooter than Kobe. He also was arguably a better passer. Kobe however had more moves and counters which is why he's correctly viewed as being more skilled. In terms of athleticism, T-Mac was longer and arguably jumped higher. But Kobe had the far quicker first step, was arguably faster, had greater body control, and was more agile.

So yeah I also think Kobe was not only more athletic but also more skilled than T-Mac. With that said, other than for Kobe's first step where the gap is pretty wide, they were pretty much neck and neck in every other attribute. That is why they were perceived as being near equals at their respective peaks. Kobe's biggest advantages over T-Mac were largely above the shoulders. He had the greater work ethic and more killer instinct. Its why he ended up reaching his full potential while T-Mac didn't.

I think you're just mad everyone liked him more than Paul Pierce. Both in the past and as well as right now.

Just face it breh. T-Mac's game was simply prettier to watch. Hence the reason he'll always be a favorite of basketball purists who love to watch the game.

That's what shocked me the most about his move to Orlando. I remember when he was on the Raptors being compared to Scottie Pippen while Vince Carter was supposed to be the next Michael Jordan. Then he goes to Orlando and year 1 transforms into a lethal scorer. shyt made no sense to me as a young kid. I thought he was going to Orlando to be Grant Hill's sidekick and out of nowhere transforms into one of the biggest superstars in the league.

T-Mac's ascent from defensive specialist to scoring champion is one of the greatest transformations in NBA history. It woulda been like Pippen turning into Jordan after MJ retired for the first time in '93.

He was good for athletic highlight finishes (which is all people care about) but the truth is that T-Mac was a below average below the rim finisher and no one ever talks about it.

It’s why his game was so perimeter oriented.

People love comparing him to KD but KD is one of the most efficient finishers ever.

Tmac was jsut under the radar. That’s how it was in the pre-aau era. a couple of guys who hosted nba camps said they knew tmac was going to be great. Chauncey billups said he saw it in person at his camp when the number one ranked high schooler in the country attended the same time as tmac and one day him and tmac were going against each other and tmac was abusing dude so bad one on one everybody got quiet and dude was having a nervous breakdown. He said from that day he knew tmac was goin to be special. He said you know you watching something special when you can’t find the comparison for that person to another great player. Said you had to combined multiple stars like voltron to get envision tmac and that was as a teen.

He was Lebron before Lebron
I'm not sure what you mean by that.

I dont think Lebron and McGrady share a similar athleticism or style of game.

I guess they were both highly coveted prospects and were good players immediately....if that's what you meant.
