Minor correction on the George W. Merck quote mentioned by CEO Rob Davis. The quoted portion of Mr. Davis' remarks were:
"We try never to forget that medicine is for the people. It is not for the profits. The profits follow, and if we have remembered that, they have never failed to appear."

I think they made the right decision!

The disdain is for both as one lead to the other. There aren’t any “good” billionaires, there just aren’t.

Reject anti DEI. So they support DEI? Is that so hard to write.

millie29.bsky.social
The proposal was anti-DEI. They’re rejecting it.
It’s the appropriate wording. Why sanewash the misogyny and racism? Words matter

I lived in a town full of the Merck family.
It doesn't surprise me to know they tried this shyt, but I'm glad the shareholders told them where to shove it.

mensamallow.bsky.social
Oh yeah... they were so brave to make sure only their Executives can avoid discrimination.

melissawoodruff.bsky.social
Hmm, Mensa, did you not really read my comment? I was simply (though obviously not simple enough for some) saying that I concur that Mercks are a$$holes. I owned land that Kippy Stroud's lot flooded onto. Every time I tried to get the Town to do something about it, she immediately threatened to sue.

Thank you Nancy! Great news

Because they, like any company with intelligence, recognise that DEI is essential to ensuring that the best possible candidates are employed and promoted, and not overlooked because of racist and other prejudiced attitudes.

Nancy. There are too many negatives in this sentence. If it must be that way, then include a clarifying sentence after. Thank you.

I love how much the makers of these terrible proposals forcing publicly-traded companies to take official, legally binding, undeniably pro-DEI stands.
Shareholders to anti-woke lawyers: “Go home! You’re not the heroes you think you are.”
30/35

millie29.bsky.social
They can’t tho, can they? Why can’t companies just throw the proposal in the bin?

Am pleased when a private company refuses to allow the GOP to dictate to them how to run their Human Resources Dept. Amazing that Republicans believe today that interfering in business policies is what government is for?

Each passing day it becomes obvious that while Trump is a bully, he is weak, and standing up to him is the answer. He can rant and rave, but resistance voices are getting more numerous and loud.

The message seems to be that if a company and it's shareholders want to make money, and that's really all they care about, don't isolate yourself with a bunch of hateful morons.
