Taylor was like a top 5 fighter in all of boxing at his peak and ruled a division....man stayed at 140 too damn long it seems

He was such a strange fighter to me. He never really passed my eye test, but it's hard to deny a guy who's undisputed.

Facts. After he "won" against Jack Catterall by a controversial decision, that should have been a sign that he should have moved up to Welterweight

He was already too big/having issues with the weight before the first Catterall fight. That fight is what declined his career and it never recovered if you look at the performances since. As you said he should of moved up after. But he was with Arum and how much BS did Arum feed him to stay at 140 so he could hand the belts over to another Arum fighter I.e Lopez.

I suspect Taylor got caught up in the party lifestyle. Just didn't go to the extreme of someone like Scott Harrison.
