Analog equipment mixed to tape

It took me like 12 seconds to realize your thread title was a terrible attempt to spell percussion

Less pretenders. Professional equipment and outboard gear to run the drums through. And most importantly, the barrier imposed by the minor effort it would take to call up a studio and book a session. It sounds minor and trivial but you wouldn't believe how many people wouldn't reach for something beyond their reach. So with this filter you have people in the studio that are at minimum serious enough to put money down on their dream

some of the production in the 90's was so laid back because those nikkas was a product of bein' kids in the 70's and grew up listenin' to what their parents was playin', those soulful and classic records of the 70's and then in turn when they got older and started producin' and rappin', they sampled those very records

the 70's was the goat era for music all across the board, from soul/r&b to rock :ohlawd:

This might be one of the biggest lessons I got from Suga Free. By tracing his influences and that's what got me into the soul classics. For awhile I didn't listen to anything else
