Yeah if you listen to Dough Pildin you can hear the Meth sample he used throughout Russian Roulette so some of these def might be leftover instrumentals.

I know a lot of people hated Russian Roulette but I personally loved that shyt so :wow:
I fukk with Russian Roulette HEAVY

I love the vibe of that shyt

You also have to keep in mind that Alchemist got a fukk load of records from Russia. Just because you hear a sample that's Russian doesn't mean it was meant for that album. He's still using those samples.

When I think Russian Roulette the main thing I think of is no drums. shyt, I don't know if I can think of a single joint on that album that hady any drum programming. Maybe I'm missing something?

Shooters doesn't have drums and is Russian that's why I rattled it off as a possibility.
It also started off as an instrumental album and then after Durag did the Junkyard track he started throwing vocals on the album.

And I still don't really feel Russian Roulette that much. I've tried friends. I really wanted to love it. I like about 1/3rd of it. :to:

There may be a lack of kick drums, but all the tracks have drums.

Alchemist never over does his kicks anyway... a lot of the times they're very faint.

Russian Roulette is a great album to me. I compare it to instrumental concept albums like those Madlib Beat Konducta albums. It is made to listen all the way through to get a full experience that's almost cinematic. as for the no drum thing, depending on who's rapping, i actually like it. at first i didn't even realize it. Roc Marciano is the king of that style.

Same. Personally, that's one of my personal favorites of Alc the goat. I never listened to an entire project of his before, but that was the first project I ever heard of his top to bottom n/h and it blew my mind because I never heard hip-hop production like it.

I was literally like :scusthov: and :ohhh: when I heard some of the shyt he did with the samples.

Ever since then I've been a huge fan of his music and downloaded all his mixtapes and albums. Unquestionably the goat cac in hip hop :wow:

If by drums you mean the drums that the artists played in the samples. If you go find those Russian Roulette samples, even the Big Twin Kosmos sample, those drums were already in the samples.

That's what I meant by no drums. Alchemist wasn't going in and programming drums on the MPC or the ASR, and he wasn't throwing in breaks either. 99% of those beats were just cool loops that he found, and on some he filtered them so the low-end would stand out.

For example, Alchemist used the exact same (sampled) drum break on both of these songs below, but while neither of them have super loud drums, he still added them in there. That's all I was talking about.

A lot of ALC's beats that have faint drums are really bass heavy, so they still sound great live or in the car. Particularly on the Action Bronson album. But Russian Roulette is more some shyt you zone out to at the crib, or listen to on the train via headphones.

I'm not hating on it or anything, and a lot of times it is dope. Like these 2 loops below are fine. I don't mind shyt like this not having hard drums.

I'm not worrying though. ALC is putting the knocking drums back in effect!

I like my drums loud and crispy!
