While I'm watchin every nikka watchin me closely
my shyt is butter for the bread they wanna toast me
I keep my head, both of them where they supposed to be
Hoes'll get you sidetracked then clap from closed feet
I don't sleep, I'm tired, I feel wired like codeine, these days
a brother gotta admire from four fiends away
My pain wish it was quick to see, from sellin 'caine
til brains was fried to a fricaisse, can't lie
At the time it never bothered me, at the bar
gettin my thug on properly, my squad and me
lack of respect for authority, laughin hard
Happy to be escapin poverty, however brief
I know this game got valleys and peaks, expectation
for dips, four percent pertation we stack chips, hardly
The youth I used to be, soon to see a mill'in
No more, Big Willie my game has grown prefer you call me William
Illin for revenues, Rayful Edmonds like
Channel 7 news, round seven jewels, hand gettin the mic
Forgettin all I ever knew, convenient amnesia
I suggest you call my lawyer, I know the procedure
Lock my body can't trap my mind, easily
explain why we adapt to crime
I'd rather die enormous than live dormant that's how we on it
Live at the main event, I bet a trip to Maui on it
Presidential suites my resedential for the weekend
Confidentially speakin in codes since I sense you peekin
The NSX rental, don't be fooled my game is mental
We both out of town dog, what you tryin to get into?
Viva, Las Vegas, see ya, later at the crap tables
meet me by the one that starts a G up
This way no fraud Willie's present gambling they re-up
And we can have a pleasant time, sippin margaritas
Ge-ge-geyeahhh, can I live?
Can I live?

no one is quoting this verse even too it's a good verse but the prodigy's one are just classic hip hop verse, that's not even debatle, jay and prodigy where in the same league as far as talent but pee had more charisma in his voice, more street grittiest and just that perfect flow with no weird acceleration or voice effects like eraly 90's rappers used to do. Just straight and direct multisyllabic mid 90's ny g rap type of flow

top mc's
nas
biggie
raekwon
gza
scarface
pac (i hesitant to put him on here since i never ever considered him a top tier lyricist but he was on top of the game when he died, so i'll leave him.)

in '95, those listed above were the only dudes i'd put over prodigy.

the rest either didn't have a large enough body of work to consider them due to them being relative newcomers or having a small discography (deck, ghostface, L, ras kass, jay-z, az, big pun) weren't thought of as being top lyricists either due to being underrated and/or not showcasing their skills until later on in their careers (black thought, andre 3000, bun b, kurupt) or were already past their prime (g. rap).

prodigy was killing tracks and was easily a better rapper at the time than anybody else on your list.

but :what: @ listing big pun on here. he had dropped two guest spots on fat joe tracks by this time and only "Firewater" was some shyt that made you :whoo: yet you list him as if he was some Nas after "Live at the BBQ" dropped. you obviously weren't around in '95....

and starang from OGC was absolutely murking tracks back then too, but he was never worth being on a top 5 rapper of 95-96 list just like most of the mc's you listed.

P is clearly top 5, Raekwon and Ghostface were never better lyricists. Ghostface was ill, but a lot of his rhymes made absolutely no sense! Tupac is an overrated lyricist, 7 Day Theory was wack. Jay Z was not at P's level. The only rappers I'd say were better are Nas, Big L, GZA and maybe Ras Kass.

Relisten to The Infamous, Hell on Earth and guest appearances from that era P was on fire. He lost his voice though, he was really never the same after that.

Infamous and Hell on Earth speak for themself. P had the game on lock.

Ronnie stays trolling, I know you made this same thread before but without the word "never" in the title.
