for the past 20 years they have really changed up his back story and made him kind of like a scum bag.
It all started when he started to fake his death. then they retconned him doing all types of fukked up shyt in the past. At least with Magneto you got what you saw up front.
but then again think how fukked up you would be if you could read people's minds and could get what they really think of you and you could control those thoughts. Dude is a saint to what he could have been.

lol well he was running a secret organization to stop "evil mutants" so it was kind of weird. It would be like Martian Luther king and the freedom riders fighting the Nation of Islam. But comic books.
To take this seriously though his group did do alot when they got a public image and mutants were more well known. He cast the x-men as superheors which showed that not all mutants were bad or just corrupted humans. And the x-men thanks to there efforts repelled the mutant registration act in time and got the sentianl program shut down. So his ideas keep the world from completely turning on mutants which they would if you follow the teachings of magneto.
