I think many of those in the conscious community are bitter that he was able to create a successful legitimate brand, selling the same info that they were selling, but in a polished package with great production. Meanwhile they were still selling burned CDR's in barbershops and yelling at white people with bullhorns on the corner.

Pretty much. Tariq told em you gotta sell to black folks instead of giving the content out for free. They didn't like that.
