Circled back to this and beat it.
7.5/10 game. I'd say it's a must have for your PS5 collection, but not something you have to stop everything your doing and buy immediately.
Story was mid. The map needs to be accessible with a single button press instead of opening the menu and hitting R1 twice every time. Fast travel could be better especially when you want to go to a particular location between zones.
Music and sound design is top tier.
Combat is fantastic and progression is great as well.
I wish there was a bit more enemy variety but the designs were really unique and well overall.
The last 2 boss fights were tedious as hell. The difficulty spike really made those feel like a chore. I had to look up a build online to beat them.
I give this game high praise for switching up the gameplay formula from time to time. It's dope that it has areas that feel like Bayonetta but then they have some areas where you can't use the sword and it turns into a 3rd person shooter. Some of the puzzles were really engaging as well.
Really a shame that for a single player action/adventure, the story was so weak.

Story was fine for this type of game. The gameplay and music alone carries this to an 8, at least.

Story was some generic Netflix sci-fi limited series bullshyt. Graphics and gameplay hard carried this game.

I usually never care about music either but the music in this game was amazing. Just got repetitive cause there was only like 3 songs used in the open zones.

7.5-8 is on point for this. The sequel should really knock it out of the park though if they learn from mistakes

Maybe it's just me, but I don't care about the story too much in action games. I just want to fun and mess around with the combat. I think stylistically they did a lot of things right in that regard, which made me not care too much about the story and decisions.
Yeah, this basically.

Story and characters delivery overall could have definitely been better, but both were at least servicable enough that the main reason of being here (the combat/gameplay) shined through easily enough to carry the game. The world and design of it was fairly interesting enough (its aesthetic design and music helps this immensely) and was designed well enough for it to have its own identity without leaning too hard on its contempary inspirations much at all in any accord, as it doesn't play anywhere close to anything that it's emulating. And that is a serious plus for a new, original IP.
