I felt that this was fitting after all the talks about "always on" with the Xbox One and how many people actually have internet and those that don't.

Loon for All ? Project Loon ? Google

I don't know how successful this will be but I guess there are two ways to look at this from the stand point of the console wars. For the PS4 heads that say a lot of people don't have the internet, according to that video they are right. But for the Xbox One heads that say "Well, do you think more or less people will have internet as the years progress....." Even though the answer is obviously yes, they still have a point. If this project is successful, this will make digital distribution a much more viable option.

Is this the new name for Google Fiber? Not watching the vid until I get home. I'm currently waiting on that but they keep opening it up in random states like Kansas City and Iowa :dwillhuh:. So sick of Comcast. :birdman:.

Nah, Google Fiber is something different. This project sends balloons with wifi attached into the stratosphere. It can then control the balloons and make sure people who don't have internet can have access to it. Its a pretty nifty idea.

Very creative idea, the only negative I see to it is how to stop people from being lame and trying to take the balloons out.

This and it also sounds very "skynet-ish".

How are they going to take them out? Its going to float above the clouds. They mention it in the video. "The balloons fly above the weather."

Well, you still have to connect to the hotspots. They aren't cameras looking down on you. The governments of the world already have those. These are just floating hot spots that people can use if they need them.
