Whenever the issue of racism among Muslims is brought up, this story is quoted.

As soon as I heard he was a slave I was like :dwillhuh:

and how he was given some special privileges that are only reserved for "real" muslims. So because of that, Islam is definitely not racist.

I first learned this when Obama was coming into office so I was like :ohhh::lupe:

In Arabic Abd is the derogatory word to describe a black person (like the N word), it actually means slave :ld:

I think you guys should look further into it.

Yes Bilal (may god be pleased with him) was a slave. And many other Africans at the time. Yes he endured inhumane circumstances and trials/ tribulations.
It was revealed in a sahih hadith that his owner (Umayyah ibn Khalaf) at the time was so foolish that he sold him for 10 gold coins. And was proud of it. The purchaser I forgot his name ended up telling him he would've purchased him for 100 gold coins had he haggled with him. Back then I couldn't imagine what type of money that was.

Yes he fought with the prophet (peace be upon him) and ended up slaying his old slave master. Bilal was a free man he migrated to medinah and many other places. He is the original caller of prayer (adhan) which is by far one of the best attributes one could have at the time.

He did wudu (ablution) whenever possible and prayed two Raka's whenever he lost his ablution.

Lastly a man was reported by saying bilal is a "son of a black women" when this was told to the prophet (peace be upon him) it was nararated that the prophet said he had traces of jahilyyah (ignorance/ foolishness). The prophet was nursed by a black women who was actually the first person to embrace islam.
At the time culturally, the women that nursed you was directly related to your ethnicity/ lineage due to the importance of nursing a the time. Yet again it's reported from sahih that the prophet claimed he is a son of black woman just as much as he is an arab women. He was nursed by a black women and there is no excuse for racism in islam.

It's the human characteristic of flaw and imperfection that bring about faults to islam.

so basically what you saying is Bilal was a slave whom was bought from his abusive old abusive ayrab master by a new Mohammed the baby rapist(may he rest in shyt) and was rewarded once converted to his new master religion and helping jihad(kill and enslave) other blacks in the name of Islam:francis:thanks for en lighting me breh..i take back all i said...Bilal was a hero and black excellence personified like Al Sahabab, Boko Haram, and the Janjaweed:salute:

The video can say what it wants to say, but obviously, this situation happened over 1500 years ago, so some say he was rebellious, some coli folks say he was a house negro, but the truth is likely somewhere in the middle.
