3 6 mafia are more household names from Hustle and Flow than any of their music and this ain't knock on them at all. Cause I fukk wit em.

nikka they had hits, people fukked with I Choose You, Stay Fly, Ridin Spinners, Popin my Collar, Sipping on Sizzurp etc

Juicy J is still pretty relevant to this day

no black nikka in they 20s or 30s knows 36 only from Hustle & Flow smh

Them nikkaz playing dumb. also we not talking about commercial success.

Primo was never that nikka commercially

Most people don't know who J Dilla is, doesn't mean he's not influential to the game.

These nikkaz exposing themselves for not knowing shyt about rap.

nikkaz in here talking about Marley Marl like people know who that is who aren't hardcore hip hop heads lmao

All the producers and nikkaz in the game know who three six mafia are and they know they influenced their shyt, it's undeniable.

Also they acting like three six mafia was some broke backpack rappers, they were independent like E-40 for the longest, putting out a shyt load of albums

That's not the definition of a household name though. A household name is a name that people recognize of all walks of life. It is not limited to race, age, or gender. Having hit songs doesn' the make someone a household name.

Fans of rap music are fans of rap music. That has no bearing on what a household name is. A household name is a name that most anyone would recognize. It implies that it is commonly used and not something you'd mention and people don't know who you're talking about. Snoop Dogg and Jay Z are household names.

Nobody's saying that Three Six Mafia were some broke backpack rappers, but they aren't the superstar group that posters on here are making them out to be. And I don't think anybody is in here trying to pass Marley Marl off as a household name.

Three Six Mafia themselves were well aware of their fame and celebrity and a lot of you in here are overstating it. They made an album called Most Known Unknown for a reason. They put in work on the underground scene for years. They broke through in '97 on the mainstream, but still wasn't superstar status. They got their first platinum album in 2000 and were still slept on. 2005 is when everything started lining up for them and even after Most Known Unknown became their biggest album, the Oscars, and a reality show, they still weren't superstars.

Who said they were a super star group? What the fukk are you even talking about?

Rap nikkaz knew who this nikkaz was? The south knew who they wre

we talking about the impact on the game. Producers knew who they were and knew they were the truth

ain't nobody talking about going platinum?

NONE OF GANGSTARR's ALBUMS HAVE EVER GONE PLATINUM

Does that mean they did not have an impact on the game and influenced otehrs.

Shaq went platinum, doesn't mean shyt, he didn't influence artist to do shyt

Nelly went diamond, ain't nobody saying they influenced him or they want to follow in his footsteps

all that is irrelevant to the fact, the Game took their style and ran with it.

People in here are claiming Three Six to be household names. That's what I'm talking about.

The game didn't take their style and run with it. Three Six Mafia is an influential Hip Hop group. I don't think anyone would deny that, but the degree to which some posters have blown up their influence is crazy.

Three Six Mafia are house hold names to rap fans and have been for the goddamn longest, that's why they named their commercial album Most Known Unknown and have countless hood classics, lmao,

You exposing yourself. Nobody blowing up their influence

The triple time hi hats, and the snare rolls have been constant in beats since the early 2000's and they were doing the shyt in 92 lmao

You can hear in the music, it ain't up for debate. They was talking about the lean and hard drugs in 90's lmao, all these nikkaz in three six kids, especially the south

the south always fukked with three six, and they influenced all southern music which took over Hip Hop completely, it's no denying it.

When you have to put rap fans into the equation, they aren't household names. People who don't even listen to rap know who Snoop Dogg is.

Their influence is being blown out of proportion. There's a thread on here claiming Three Six is a Top 3 influential group ever.

Triple time hi hats and snare rolls were prominent on Comin' Out Hard which is more important and influential than any single Three Six Mafia album before or after. Again, Ball & G are more influential than Three Six Mafia and people were on them straight out of the gate. UGK was on lean and hard drugs before any of you were even Three Six Mafia fans.
