A lotta early 90s East Coast rappers used to say they were "on the down low", or "on the DL"... which meant they stayed low-key, not tryin' to be all out on front street. But that term's meaning has changed so much since then, a rapper wouldn't dare say they're on the down low these days.
It's just how descriptive it is that makes it so gay-sounding now. Back then it was funny, but when you really listen to it, ain't no way a nikka could get away with it now. The nikka said:'I'll tie you to a bedpost... with ya asscheeks spread out 'nshyt"...
