Honestly, the Coli helped to wake me up to the issue of racial police brutality. Before I had logged on I was a bit naive to it and tended to want to give officers the benefit of the doubt (due to having a white upbringing and a lack of negative interactions with cops), but listening to people actually tell their stories and explain their point of view helped me to understand the practice in the context of larger forms of systemic racism.
As a white person, you tend to be ignorant about issues due to your privelege and buy into the self-serving myth of a post-racial society. Of course, the Coli isn't 100% the reason I understand these issues, but it helped to inform more intellectual examination I was making into systemic racism and its effects.
