The reason money was invented was because bartering became unstable and unreliable. Exchanging currency is the same as bartering, but it gives an actual value to your barter so that it negates disputes.

Just look at your money as your bartering tool. You perform a function, get money, and then exchange the money for goods. That's it...money isn't more than you exchanging your skillset for a means of accumulating stuff.

It's easy to prove you wrong because you made such a blanket outlandish statement...

Money is the LEAST important thing? :usure:

A used piece of toilet paper is less important than money
A tiny scrap of unusable Styrofoam is less important than money
a single follicle of discarded dog hair is less important than money
etc. etc. etc.
all are "things" and all are less important than money. If I had a penny in one hand and any of the others in my other hand and told you to choose one, you would probably go with the penny :yeshrug:

However, if you are saying money is NOT the most important thing... well then yes. Time is more important than money (I still don't know why we exchange time for money in such little amounts :snoop:) your health is more important than money, the ability to use caution, rationale, logic, imagination, and intuition are all more important than money etc. etc. etc.... but money is not "the least important thing"

now rep a breh for seamlessly proving you wrong :feedme:
Fair. And to be more specific, it's the least or last of all the types of riches. But you did provide a real answer.

However, your post contains a fallacy. In reference to the penny, almost no one would care. Pennies are largely insignificant and often insulting. I'd be interested in an argument against that. I still think it's fair to say that money (ie material wealth) is last of all the riches.

I agree pennies are nearly worthless, but the items I described are still less important than a penny.

Of course economy is necessary but the money game is the dumbest and illest (in a bad way) concept ever invented. I don't need money to live at all. I can use all resources around me, move, or trade on any level. I can be rich in knowledge, spirit, talent, and relationships. None of these things are necessarily contingent on a dollar. Money, as it stands today, is the cause of all wars and oppression. That ain't even new. I find it hard to think of anything less important than money. So help me out here. Prove me wrong. My phone bill is due in about 2 weeks and I'm a little worried.

Proof that I'm broke. :feedme:

If you live in the forest / dessert / wilderness/ deserted beach / jungle ... and know how to make tools, utensils, furniture, clothing, hunt, extract clean water, make shelter and fire ... yeah it doesn't matter ... other than that ... it does ...
Not really. If everyone around you (ex. Parents) have enough dough then your relationship with them trumps that. You would only have access to their funds based on your worth in their eyes or youd talent\work ethic which is still above material in its self.

But indirectly you are still relying on money ... a$$hole naked in the woods with a stone ax is completely different.

Nope. For example, all of those things can be used in forensic science. Or cleaned off to make meaningful art. Or be sentimental artifacts that may or may not make you money. Money on its own is worthless. Therefore, it cannot be the best of all riches. We already agree there. I argue that it is the least important especially considering the law of attraction.

Fair enough...but all of those things aren't inherently more "important" than money. Maybe more interesting or intriguing, but the very research to conduct needs money.

It's also based on perspective. Show a homeless man with little understanding of art or culture but a very real understanding about hunger ten thousand dollars in one hand and a Picasso original in the other and they may be more likely to choose the money. Fair?

good ideological debate.

Some of the richest men in the world hold riches in their true place. I'm not saying money is bad or useless. I'm saying that its existence has amplified everything bad about the human condition and set up counterfeit boundaries between our species.

----

Look at rich people. They tend to be cheap ie thrifty. They tend to be charitable. They tend to think like broke folks, lest they actually become one again. Exclude the heirs. I'll reiterate: money is important. Money is the least important thing when it comes to being truly rich.

Look ak Kanye. That dude will be rich forever and very likely want for naughy? Why? Cuz he rich? Or is it because he's Kanye West?
