My mom told me that my people are too busy worrying about the wrong things. She said blacks need to take back their neighborhoods, stop having so many children and start appreciating free education. She's white and I'm adopted.
It's their argument that because legalized slavery, Jim Crow, and segregation have been outlawed, hundreds of years of slavery and disenfranchisement are meaningless. Perhaps their favorite rebuttal, beside the bootstraps comment that you've addressed, is that their forefathers came to America after slavery or that they were never involved in the business of slavery. Little do they realize, or at least acknowledge, that the ECONOMY was based on slavery. No slaves, no cotton, no northern industrialization, no ship builders, ect.
A few years ago the Atlantic did a piece on reparations. They estimated that the collective labor performed by black slaves would today be worth two trillion dollars. Yes, with a T. That's America's freebie. Our ancestors' collective tax that has not and probably never will be repaid. Imagine if America had to pony up two trillion dollars today, right now.
The bigot (this is what they are) ignores facts unless it suits their needs. I've confronted this exact argument with the use of studies from Harvard, MIT, and other prestigious organizations. Nope. Nothing. They know EXACTLY how many black on white crimes occurred last year though. If you aren't familiar with it, I'd recommend looking at the concept of cognitive dissonance. Quite applicable to this subject.
My explanation is that white privilege is the absence of the bullshyt that black people have to go through on a daily basis. I'm a man. I don't have to worry about walking by myself at night. Being raped isn't a concern for me. Likewise, being pulled out of your car by cops and being called a ****** that fits the description is not in their purview. As I said, if Blacks started protesting white supremacy, it would register is blimp on the map unless we did it economically. If Whites said, we are tired of the white 1% and want everyone to get an equal chance at the money and Blacks get their reparations for all the shyt we been through which is in the high trillions then you will see everyone protesting. But as of right now, whites are caught up in race. Whites have something to lose doing this or not. Blacks really don't to a degree.

And most white people do deny that their system is designed to fukk over black people, which is exactly why i don't even associate with most white people.
