Ps4 day one patch not required for offline gaming

The PlayStation 4 will get a day-one patch when it launches on November 15, Sony announced today. The patch is 300 megabytes, and it turns on a lot of features: Remote Play, sharing, broadcasting, and so forth. Without the patch, you won't able to use any of that.

You won't be able to play games online with other people until you download the patch. And some PS4 features won't be available at launch, Sony says, like the suspend/resume mode that lets you set the system to low-power mode and then lets you pick up where you left off.

After reading that, do you honestly think you won't be able to play OFFLINE without the patch? Be honest.

Note they said "you won't be able to play games ONLINE WITH OTHER PEOPLE until you download the patch"

Please tell me what you get from this article. I'm seeing it's obviously going to let people play offline without the patch.

Ok its still a crippled system regardless. No way to spin it. Im not saying its a bad thing. In fact I said a long time ago that it will need a day one update. That how any modern internet connected device is now.

It still does not explicitly say the patch isn't needed. If games are made to work with the new firmware, it's no guarantee that they will work without the patch.

Same goes for Xbox.

And beyond that my point was people complaining for months and talking about the Xbox not being ready, but as we are seeing it looks like the Sony is the one scrambling trying to push the ps4 out the door. And things that people called anti consumer and insulting when microsoft did it are now ok since Sony is doing them.

Well with Forza when they first mentioned it, they made it sound like it wouldn't even work without the update and then they later clarified on it.
