Seems like sony is pretty content right now with the price point and throwing in 2-3 games. Cant blame them too much since theyre winning easily but hopefully they do an official price drop soon. Theres still a lot of people waiting on the sidelines for it.

People are willing to buy your product at $399 and you're the hottest game in town. Sales show no signs of slowing down and you're crushing the competition. Why the hell would you then cut the price? You have zero incentive to do so. The market in general is satisfied with the PS4's price so it should remain the same price until sales show signs of decline.

Sony likely isn't dropping the price anytime soon. One of the benefits of a lack of proper competition. Gamers seem so content ignoring Microsoft and Nintendo all while building Sony up. Well this comes with the territory. Especially for a company with as many leaky divisions as Sony. Who else is gonna hold up the TV and mobile phone divisions as they bleed money?

They were winning with the ps2 handily, and still dropped the price a year and a half into release. Its what catapulted the ps2s sales into the stratosphere.

If they drop the price to $299 sales will explode.

I doubt they would make more money selling for less. At launch a PS4 was $390 to make. By now they're likely making a small profit on every unit sold. Selling at $299 even lower than the Xbox One means abandoning profit on systems.

I think the PS4 will see a temporary price cut in the holidays to respond to whatever Microsoft has up its sleeve. It's inevitable that we are going to see the xbox one at sub $300 soon.
